Athletic is a term aptly used to describe sprint great Veronica Campbell-Brown, now it’s high time to add altruistic to identify the Jamaican jet. VCB as she is commonly known in athletic circles, launched her Foundation in May of this year and has, true to her fleet self, already establish a scholarship fund to assist needy girls at four select Jamaican high schools.
During the past two weeks, VCB has met with recipients from Irwin High school and Vere Technical High. Incidentally, VCB is an alumni of Vere. The other schools soon to be personally acknowledged by Campbell-Brown are St. Andrew Technical and Troy High school. In making the presentation at Vere Technical, VCB reminded students that she once stood in their shoe at the same location and via hard work, God given talent and a positive attitude she has gotten to her lofty athletic height. She then pointed out that her passion to share and the obvious need among young girls touched her altruistic vein.
